If pink had a floral mascot, it’d be the Downy Phlox. Radiating hues of bubblegum pink to soft lilac, this wildflower manages to look effortlessly lovely in any hue while holding its own on rocky slopes and sun-baked fields.
With clusters of blooms, this flora doesn’t need to grow up — it grows out, charming bees, butterflies, and daydreaming wanderers alike. It’s proof that reaching far and wide is just as important as climbing up.
Every time I see a patch of Downy Phlox, I’m reminded to lean into my own strengths, to build upon what I already know and have talent for before I reach for the stars. Take it from me, leaning into your passions and talents makes life a whole lot more fun than climbing the ladder to reach what everyone else is also striving for.
In a world chasing flash and fast trends, be like Phlox: stay grounded, bloom in bunches, and bring the pretty n’ pink energy.
